Sam's Group Bar Projects

I started my own company, Sam’s Group Bar Projects, in 1997. I am its creative brain, using my expertise to develop concepts and solutions for the bar industry.

Sam’s Group Bar Projects is a company that focuses on innovations in the bar industry. We provide consultancy, bar design and construction services(technical bar construction, framework) and we develop new concepts as well.

A number of concepts that have seen actual development include:

Flair Practice Bottle:

I laid the groundwork for the conceptualization and design of the safest possible practice bottle, together with Dean Serneels of Flairco, a Canadian company that produces the practice bottle.

Sam`s Bar Vision:

In 1998, we started producing customized stainless steel countertops with integrated cocktail workstations. American modular bar systems are very standardized and relatively basic, whereas I try to put my own know-how and the client’s input to work and design the best possible solution for my client’s bar. We also produce barista workstations and customized cooling facilities.

the cocktail cleaning unit:

We have continually focused on one specific element of the cocktail workstation, cleaning the cocktail materials after each preparation, which can be a rather time consuming enterprise. We can proudly say that we are the only ones that focus on this specific element, as evidenced by the fact that we have outfitted the sink with a number of innovative solutions that allow you to rinse out your cocktail materials in a matter of seconds, while keeping your hands dry!

These sinks are built into the Sam’s Bar Vision countertops.

Barshop.nl:

1999, Europe’s first bar materials webshop.

flair training manual “Attractive Bartending”:

An illustrated, step-by-step practice manual for flair bartending. (over 4500 copies sold in Europe and the US)

The plastic muddler:

In 2001, we were the first to introduce a more hygienic alternative to the wooden muddler.

trendy cocktail book “Mashing Cocktails”:

In 2002, I decided to step away from the standardized cocktail books, which are all basically copies of one another, providing no new information whatsoever. “Mashing Cocktails” contains a collection of “muddled” cocktail recipes, which has become something of a trend over the past few years. (Written in Dutch, 2000 copies, sold out)

Mixing Feelings:

2006, a co-operation offering bar/cocktail services. A concept I came up with in order to allow a number of different, independently operating bartenders to work together under one uniform system, which compensates for the fact that, individually, they might lack the manpower, know-how and means to get things done. Sam’s Group Bar Projects provides the hardware (mobile bars, cocktail workstations, materials, glasses and ice) and manages the website. The bartenders are responsible for providing the actual services.
